It’s easy to make iced coffee at home.

Iced coffee is simply coffee brewed hot or cold, then chilled and poured over ice for a refreshing, flavorful cup. Our favorite approach is cold brew—steeping grounds longer creates a smoother, bolder coffee that stays balanced even over ice. Whether you brew ahead or pour it fresh, iced coffee is an easy way to keep things cool without sacrificing flavor.

What You'll Need

It doesn’t take much to brew iced coffee your way.

  • A little bit of time. Note that for cold brew you’ll want to steep your brew for 12-24 hours.
    If you have a cold brew system, fantastic. If not, you can substitute with a french press or whichever vessel suits you best.
  • As much coffee and water as you’d like to make. We like a 1:4 to 1:8 ratio of coffee to water for a concentrate and a 1:12 to 1:18 ratio for a more diluted brew that accounts for ice melt.
  • Grinder
  • Scale

Step 1

Weigh or measure your beans, grind them to a medium-coarse grind and combine with water in your vessel of choice.

Step 2

Allow to steep either refrigerated or on a counter for 12-24 hours.

Step 3

If you’ve made a cold brew concentrate, be sure to dilute prior to enjoying (or else). We like a 1:1 combination of concentrate with either water, or milk for an iced latte like cup. 
If your brew is already diluted, pour over ice, add your favorite coffee fixings, and let the adventure begin.

Storage: Once your beans are opened, store them in an airtight container that you keep in a cool, dry place. If you want the beans and your coffee to taste their best, which obviously you do, grind them just before you start brewing.
